No Better for Fishing
The Heart Of Your Alaskan Adventure
Welcome to Eagles Nest Lodge
We know fishing is the heart of your Alaskan adventure—there’s no better place than the rich waters surrounding Glacier Bay. Anglers have the opportunity to catch all five species of Pacific salmon: king, silver, chum, sockeye and pink. Halibut fishing out of Gustavus is exceptional. The Gustavus/Glacier Bay area produces the biggest average halibut of any port in the state of Alaska. With our world-class fishery, we occasionally catch halibut in the 300 to 400 pound range and have had a few that were close to the current world record of 459 pounds. Routinely our guides put anglers on halibut ranging from 20 to 200 pounds.
The experience doesn’t stop there.
You'll also find lingcod, rockfish and yelloweye (similar to red snapper). While you're on the water, keep an eye out for humpback whales, minke whales, orcas, sea lions, sea otters, seals, porpoises, puffins, bald eagles, and so much more.

GAF tags (Guided Angler Fishing tag) can be purchased for $500 per tag. This tag allows a guest to keep an extra halibut or a halibut that exceeds the normal size limits that are set for guided anglers. These tags come from commercial quota that have been purchased by Eagle’s Nest Lodge and transferred to our boats pursuant to Alaska’s Guided Angler Fish Program. This provides guests the option to harvest a trophy halibut on your trip.
We will help you purchase your fishing license with Alaska Department of Fish and Game when you arrive at the lodge. Fishing licenses are $45 and not included in the price of the trip.
WILDLIFE… AND LOTS OF IT
Wildlife is abundant in the Glacier Bay area. Keep your eye out for black tail deer, moose, eagles, wolves, puffins, bald eagles, porcupines as well as brown and black bears. While fishing, this will be the closest you’ll ever get to oceanic wildlife including minke whales, killer whales, humpback whales, sea lions, porpoises, sea otters and seals.
